The Clinical Program At Little Creek Recovery

Our clinical program unfolds in The 3 Stages of Care and is an in-depth, comprehensive approach utilized by professional counselors and experienced staff.

The Three Stages of Care are designed to break down the barriers and fear surrounding the change needed for ongoing recovery. By creating an intimate setting, we can help residents love themselves again, face challenges in a healthy and controlled way, and develop an environment where recovery becomes their idea.

Little Creek Lodge residents are expected to commit to a minimum of 30 days. Thirty days is certainly not a magic number; it does not mean that every resident will be ready to transition after a 30-day period, which is why we offer our 30, 60, or 90 days extended residential programs. We have seen that the longer the resident is taken away from their last substance use the more receptive the resident is to clinical guidance and peer support.

Little Creek Lodge offers a wide variety of programs designed to facilitate a healthy, sober lifestyle, and empower men to feel good about the choices they make.

Adventure Trek

The Recreational Programming at Little Creek Lodge helps residents learn to trust, and to be trusted, again. Time spent outdoors can renew the mind, body, spirit, and remind residents that anything is possible. We feel that many other treatment centers keep you from reality and lack exposure to the real world. We feel by exposing them to healthy activities within a community setting we can promote healthy interaction between peers and allow relationships to develop healthily and safely. We have been told by many residents that these experiences are what helped them smooth the transition from treatment to a real sober lifestyle. By creating these experiences residents are empowered to make good choices about their futures and can celebrate their successes with their peers.

Common activities and excursions for Adventure Trek include:

  • Kayaking
  • Zip Lining
  • Mountain Biking
  • Indoor/Outdoor Rock Climbing
  • Fishing
  • Swimming
  • Skiing/Snowboarding
  • Snowshoeing
  • Horseback Riding
  • River Rafting
  • Go Karting
  • Amusement Parks / Water Parks
  • Museums
  • Frisbee Golf
  • Hiking
  • Ironman – Overnight Camping Trip

Vocational Guidance

Vocational group and consultation appointments are available to residents of Little Creek Lodge. We also offer individual assistance in choosing a career path, GED preparation, tutoring, college guidance, and overall help with employment.

Family Program

Our Family Program is on the first Sunday of every month at 10:00 a.m. It is held at the Little Creek Outpatient Facility, 518 Easton Turnpike Lake Ariel, PA 18436, an adjacent property to Little Creek Lodge. Our family counseling and education are designed to promote healing in the family unit. Family members are a significant part of the treatment process and contribute to the residents’ emotional growth. In addition to offering weekly family contacts by the client’s Primary Counselor, we offer weekly family therapy sessions by a member of our Clinical Team on Sundays between 11:00 am and 4:30 pm, and monthly Family Programming where our entire clinical team is present on the 1st Sunday of each month (with few exceptions due to holidays). Parents and family members need to know the importance of their role in the process of recoveryWe also accommodate them by referring them to parent groups that are available in their local areas.

Music Expression

Our Music studio is the only one of its kind in the area. Residents can jam and practice their music in the studio. When a resident is ready to record project options and planning will take place. We have seen residents take great satisfaction in the experience of completing a task from beginning to end. We have had many communities record their own songs and make a CD.

Mental Health Counseling Options

Here at Little Creek, we understand that there is no one size fits all cure for addiction. That is why we provide various mental health counseling programs, with sobriety always being the goal.

Individual Therapy

Person-centered therapy focuses on individual patients to help find the root cause of why there was an addiction in the first place. The objective of individual therapy is to help build healthy self-esteem to help maintain sobriety. Benefits from individual therapy include creating trust between the patient and the therapist, supportive conversation, and dissecting habits and beliefs so that patients can better understand the self.

Group Therapy

Group therapy helps build rapport and relationships with other residents at Little Creek. It helps to gain insight into what they are dealing with during their recovery process. The benefits of group therapy include building a sense of community, understanding group dynamics and individual roles within it, and helps patients gain a different perspective for their recovery and the recovery of others.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Our cognitive behavioral therapy helps reframe negative thought patterns that could be contributing to substance use disorder. CBT aims to help teach patients to recognize negative thought patterns and control the harmful behavior that stems from those thoughts.

Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

DBT helps patients learn to manage emotions, deal with stress, nurture close relationships, and manage cravings for substances. The goal of DBT is to teach patients to work through stressful situations that cause negative self-talk, emotions, and self-harm.

Music Therapy

Music therapy can be a pleasant way of treating addiction by lowering stress levels and building connections with other patients and therapists. Sometimes words can’t describe the full spectrum of emotions that come up when dealing with addiction. Music therapy can help translate negative and painful experiences into something artistic and beautiful.  Don’t know how to play an instrument? Don’t fret. Facilitators will help you in the process of learning something new to gain a sense of accomplishment and help provide a sense of self-esteem.

Outpatient Treatment Programs

Although our inpatient option is an excellent choice for most people seeking treatment, not all patients have the ability to take a break from work, familial responsibilities, and other obligations. If you find that you can’t step away from responsibilities but also need addiction treatment, our inpatient treatment provides the option of seeking help without leaving your life behind.

Here at Little Creek, we offer three intensity levels for our outpatient programs, and there are options between general outpatient or partial hospitalization programs. The treatment times vary so that patients can choose what time frame works best for their needs.

The general outpatient program we provide includes counseling services to patients one or two times weekly. We provide therapeutic services that include psychiatry, psychology, individual therapy, and spiritual consultations from either a pastor or a rabbi.

Inpatient Treatment Programs

Here at Little Creek, we provide a thorough bio-psychological assessment that matches the patient’s needs by providing individualized plans for care. Our inpatient treatment plan includes 24 hours, around-the-clock care for all residents during their stay. We recommend that those who chose to do an inpatient program do a minimum of 90 days at our facility to have enough time to reach treatment goals and objectives.

Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP)

If you need intensive care but can’t stay in our facility as an inpatient resident, our PHPs are a great choice. Although patients won’t be living at the facility, PHPs are designed to have patients dedicate a majority of their week to the program for it to be effective. When you’re not participating in the PHP, patients are allowed to go home after their sessions, so it is an excellent option for those who have families.
